The eyeball within the orbit, with the extraocular muscles and the optic nerve.

The eyeball is moved by six extraocular muscles: the superior, inferior, medial and lateral recti and the superior and inferior obliques, while the levator palpebrae superioris raises the upper eyelid. The optic nerve leaves the orbit through the optic canal, and the ophthalmic artery, a branch of the internal carotid, supplies the orbital contents.
