Head Nervous system

Brain (Brain and skull section), anterior viewBrain (Brain and skull section), lateral viewBrain (Brain and skull section), posterior viewBrain (Brain and skull section), medial view

The brain in its position within the sectioned skull, with meninges, cerebral vessels and cranial nerves.

The brain is covered by three meninges: the dura mater, which lines the skull and forms the dural venous sinuses, the arachnoid mater and the pia mater. The subarachnoid space between the arachnoid and pia contains cerebrospinal fluid and the main cerebral arteries.
