Trunk Musculoskeletal system

Trunk (Muscles and bones), anterior viewTrunk (Muscles and bones), lateral viewTrunk (Muscles and bones), posterior viewTrunk (Muscles and bones), medial view

The skeleton of the trunk with the muscles of the back, chest and abdominal wall.

The deep muscles of the back, such as the erector spinae group, extend and stabilise the vertebral column, while the superficial back muscles, including trapezius and latissimus dorsi, move the upper limb. The anterior abdominal wall is formed by the rectus abdominis and the external oblique, internal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles, which support the viscera and flex the trunk.
